My name is Cheryl and today June 27, 2008 I turned 45 years old. I was awakened by the cell phone at 4 am this morning with Happy Birthday text messages from my 16-year-old and 17-year-old sons who are away at camp. Barely awake, my husband served me breakfast in bed. Eggs, sprouted grain toast, a sweet bun, a beautiful card, and no gift. What no gift? You see, I have already received two wonderful gifts this year. A fall and spring trip to Red Mountain Spa with Dr. Pam Peeke learning more about how to be Fit to Live. What more could I want or need? Now inside that card read this: Onward My Love to the Grand Canyon You can do it. The Gift of a Lifetime awaits me. Dr Peeke asked me several weeks ago to join her on the hike. I accepted, but with lots of questions and concerns. Thanks for putting up with us DrP. It was just a few years ago that I picked up Dr Peekes book Body for Life for Women. What an answer to my prayers! Somebody who could help get me back into shape of my younger years. I was desperate to lose the excess weight I had accumulated from bearing children, stress overeating, and simply being lazy and not focusing on my health. Little did I know that my life would change and change it did. Not only did I remove 130 pounds of excess weight, my whole family is much slimmer and healthier, too! So, now at 45 years old I do not feel like I am almost a half a century old. I feel energized, healthy, strong, and excited about the next challenge laid before me My Gift of a Lifetime- Hiking the Grand Canyon. Oh, that sweet bun thing, I enjoyed the two bites but that was enough for me. Fit feels better than all the junk eating! Thanks for the invite DrP!
