Full Blog:
Well, I took a couple of weeks off of writing for this blog, as I was debating what would happen with a hamstring/calf strain. It was an un-needed reminder that getting fit can have a few setbacks. But of course, that doesnt mean that I stopped training. With Dr. Peekes direction of focus on what you CAN do, not on what you CANT I was in the gym, doing my upper body workout. And guess what? I discovered yesterday, to my utter shock, that now I can do 12 full body pushups, and a second set of 8. Just 3 days ago, I could only do 2 full body pushups. So that tells me that sometimes theres stuff going on in my body, behind the scenes, that can result in more strength seemingly all at once.
I have learned through this process of fitness evolution that if I remind myself to look past panic and despair, that I will always find another challenge waiting for me that I CAN do. And there is so much joy in discovering that!
So, I have been advised that my hamstring/calf strain should not keep me from fully experiencing the Grand Canyon adventure. Its a busy time of putting together the supplies Ive been gathering all summer like a squirrel. Tucking things into my backpack, and remembering the essentials. Like a bathing suit! I leave at 6:00 a.m. on Monday morning, and will be back the following Monday. Thanks for reading, and please wish us luck!
Stay tuned...
