Hi,

Week 4 complete already??? It was kind of an up and down week for me. Dr. Peeke had made the comment we carry around this committee in our heads. And Im telling you shes right. All these little thoughts why bother, or this or that is more important or youre not going to make it or its ok, eat that: you can walk a few extra steps tomorrow Like tomorrow ever gets here. And oh my gosh the GUILTnot spending enough time cleaning the house or not getting that dinner made or I should be working laterGUILT

I took out a piece of paper and wrote my mantra FIT AND ALIVE, and added, I can do this

I carry it in my pocket and every time I catch myself making excuses. I pull it out and repeat reading it until I am convinced again. I will make the time needed for me!!!

I have at some points this week really had to make myself get my work out clothes and tennis shoes onand as they say just do it. One night it was 7:30 and I was out there walking (with a little grumbling) because I hadnt succeeded in getting all my steps. I made up my mind, I refuse to defeat myself. If Im doing everything I can for me then I am succeeding. There are times I just dont feel itthe succeeding part, but I know I am.

The other thing I have really had to deal with this week was Plan BI went to work out on the Elliptical here at my office and  found out just how popular that machine is. There was a linein this tiny little fitness rooma line. Then on Saturday I worked my once a month looonnnggg day over 12 hoursSO Im all revved up to go downstairs and jump on the Elliptical. Thinking Id have it all to myself. Be in and outthe best laid plans failit was locked and apparently it is not open to use on weekendsI felt like I was slammed in the gut. Its 5:30 and I have to be ready to go out to dinner by 7

Plan BI drove home and walked my emergency route. I only got 9906 steps but I had to get home and showered. I ended up being about 15 minutes lateOH WELL!

Ive really had to have a prepared backup on several days in order to accomplish every thing I needed to. And a few things have slipped here and there, but the earth didnt stop and everything worked out ok in spite of it

I cant say it enough to myselfthe PLAN is essential!

Seems like I just started thisbut honestly I am starting to notice some improvements. I am exceeding the 10,000 steps almost every time. I am not huffing and puffing near as much as when I started, though there is this one hill that gets me every time. I can do 40 minutes on the Elliptical without feeling like jello on a train when I get off. I huff and puff and sweat on that thoughbut thats ok, Im looking at it like my newest challenge
